„You can make music with anything.
You can play a song on a wood table or with a newspaper.
All that matters is that it’s musical –
not if the instrument is mechanical or electronic.“
I was born in the Gries neighborhood, a rather rough area of Graz. Our playground was “the street.”
But at that time, “the street” was a little different. There was much less traffic, more freedom and above all: “the street” was the place where young and old met.
At the 12th AUSTRIAN PERCUSSION CAMP, we would like to bring our participants out onto “the street”
and show them how communicative this space can be.
Isn’t it odd that we humans are so constricted and regulated in public space?
Let’s exercise our freedom and (at least artistically) take to “the street”:
STOMP THE STREET, STEEL DRUM BAND, TAIKO DRUMMING, PERCUSSION ORCHESTRA, FIFE & DRUMS, CAJÓN, FRAME DRUM, HANDPAN, CAMP CHOIR, BEATBOXING, DRUMLINE, STREET DANCES and the legendary OPEN STAGE guarantee a fantastic, rhythm-oriented week full of “street music.”
The Carinthian Music Academy (CMA) at the former Ossiach Abbey has impressive classrooms and practice rooms, a great concert hall, an excellent restaurant with a wonderful terrace on the lake, and a private beach: the best place imaginable for an active rhythmic and vocal vacation in paradise.
For the twelfth time, a full program is offered for the whole family and budding professionals.
I look forward to meeting you or seeing you again.
Have a nice time until then,
